On October 7, 2026, OpenAI started rolling out GPT-6 in ChatGPT with a feature called Intelligent UI. Instead of answering only in paragraphs, ChatGPT can now answer with cards, filters, sliders, charts, checklists and small working tools, chosen for the question you asked.
For a local business, that changes what it means to be "in the answer". When a customer asks ChatGPT for a physiotherapist, a contractor or a realtor, the reply can now be a set of cards they filter and compare. Every card is built from facts. If yours can't be found, you don't make it onto the card.
This post shows what that looks like for the kinds of questions your customers ask, which facts each answer is built from, and what OpenAI has actually said about how it works.
TL;DR
- Intelligent UI lets GPT-6 answer with interactive components such as buttons, sliders, charts, forms and checklists, and build small tools on the fly. The model decides when an interface helps more than text.
- It streams. OpenAI built a library of native components and a compiler that renders the interface while the answer is still being written.
- Everyone gets it. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise got GPT-6 Sol on October 7. Free and Go got GPT-6 Luna the next day. OpenAI says ChatGPT has more than 1.2 billion weekly users.
- Search answers start sooner. On real search traffic, OpenAI says GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant.
- For businesses: an interface can only filter, compare or rank on facts it can find. Hours, services, prices, location and booking that aren't published clearly can't make it onto the card.
One question, three kinds of answer
Scroll through the panel below. It follows one customer question through three generations of ChatGPT answer: plain chat, then chat with images, then Intelligent UI. In the last stage, the business card comes apart into the facts it's built from. Drag the slider to put it back together, or pick a part to see where that fact comes from and what controls it.
Saturday physio near Liberty Village
Two clinics near Liberty Village list Saturday hours: Harbourview Physio is open 9 am to 2 pm, and a second clinic opens at 10. Call ahead to confirm availability, since weekend slots fill quickly.
Six facts, one card
A business card in an interactive answer is assembled from separate facts. Select a part to see where that fact lives and who controls it.

The useful part of the exploded view is where each fact lives. Almost none of it lives only on your homepage. Hours are on your site and your Google Business Profile. Reviews are on other people's platforms. Services and prices are on pages you may not have written yet. An interactive answer can only show the facts it can find and agree on, which is why we keep writing about third-party sources and structured data.
What OpenAI actually shipped
Until now, a ChatGPT answer was a document. With GPT-6, an answer can be a small piece of software. OpenAI describes a library of native, streamable components and a compiler that turns the model's choices into an interface while the answer is still being written, so pieces appear progressively instead of all at once.
The model decides when an interface helps. You don't switch Intelligent UI on. OpenAI says GPT-6 was trained to judge when an interface beats text, and that the training graded answers on clarity, usefulness, completeness, layout and interaction. When text is the better answer, you still get text.
OpenAI is candid that this is a first version: its launch post says the model's design judgment, and the range of interfaces it can build, still need work. Expect some answers to be over-designed, and some to be plain text when a tool would have helped.
Who gets it: Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users got GPT-6 Sol from October 7, 2026, and Free and Go users got GPT-6 Luna the next day. Enterprise access depends on administrator settings. OpenAI says its Work and Codex models are unchanged by this release.

Text answer
A few clinics in your area may have Saturday hours. Harbourview Physio lists Saturday mornings and offers direct billing for most major insurers. King West Rehab is also open Saturdays, though its website doesn't mention direct billing. Liberty Sports Clinic is closest, but I couldn't find its weekend hours.
I'd recommend calling each clinic to confirm Saturday availability and whether they bill your insurer directly.

A banging noise on startup is often delayed ignition or a dirty burner, though it can have other causes. At 14 years, many homeowners compare a repair against replacement.
Several heating companies in your area offer service calls. Northside Heating lists same-week appointments. Maple Comfort mentions furnace repair but not its availability. Ask each for a written quote and warranty before you decide.

Several agents work in Liberty Village. Some publish neighbourhood market reports and list past condo sales on their websites, which can help you judge their local experience.
When you interview agents, ask about recent sales in your building, their marketing plan and their commission. Reviews on independent sites can also help.

Look at what the highlighted facts have in common: almost all of them are things a business has to publish somewhere a machine can read. Look at the amber "not found" chips too. In a text answer, a missing fact is a sentence the reader may skim past. In an interface, it's a filter the business fails.
Faster to start, not always faster to finish
GPT-6 also changes timing. It can start answering before it has finished thinking or searching, which is what lets an interface build in front of you. OpenAI published three charts on this. We've redrawn them from OpenAI's published numbers; use the menu and legends to explore.
When answers start and finish
OpenAI's internal consumer task evaluation. Each line runs from the Instant level (left) through Medium and High to Extra high (right).
Source: OpenAI, "GPT-6 and Intelligent UI for everyone". Switch to "Beginning of the answer" to see GPT-6 start far sooner, then to "End" to see GPT-5.6 Instant finish first.
At the beginning of the answer, GPT-6 Instant starts at about 33 seconds against GPT-5.6 Instant's 72. By the end of the answer, GPT-6 Instant finishes at about 94 seconds against 84. It scored higher (76.3% against 74.3%); it just takes a little longer to finish building a richer answer.
Hard web-search questions

For a business, the practical effect is that more of the customer's decision happens inside the chat, sooner. Being named and described accurately in the answer matters more than the click.
What this means for your business
We've written about how AI answers cite third-party sources far more than brand websites, and how GPT-6 Astra can browse, compare and book on a customer's behalf. Intelligent UI pushes the same way, and Google is heading there too: it announced Generative UI for AI Mode in Search at I/O this year.
1. Answers are becoming interfaces, and interfaces run on facts. A filter needs a yes or no. A comparison needs the same fields from every option. Publish your hours, services, prices or price ranges, service area, warranty and booking options in plain text, keep them the same on every listing, and mark them up with schema. In our study of 36 Toronto business websites, 65% didn't publish their opening hours in a form an AI agent could read.
2. "Not found" is now visible. A missing fact used to be invisible. In an interface it shows up as a gap next to a competitor who filled it.
3. Some things we don't know yet. OpenAI hasn't said how businesses are chosen for comparison cards, how sources are credited inside interactive components, or whether developers will be able to use the same components. We'll update this post as OpenAI publishes more, and we won't guess in the meantime.

How to get interactive answers yourself
OpenAI says GPT-6 decides when an interface helps, so you can't force one. These habits make it more likely, and more useful when it happens:
- Name what you want to adjust or compare. "Show them as cards I can filter by Saturday hours" tells the model what the controls are.
- Give it your numbers. A tool built on your own figures is more useful than one built on averages.
- Refine it in the conversation. Ask for another filter, a different chart or a printable summary.
- Check the result. OpenAI itself says the design judgment needs work. If a figure looks wrong, ask the model to show its working.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is ChatGPT's Intelligent UI? Intelligent UI is a GPT-6 feature that lets ChatGPT answer with interactive components such as buttons, sliders, charts, forms and checklists, and build small tools such as calculators, instead of answering only in text. OpenAI launched it on October 7, 2026.
Who can use Intelligent UI? Everyone on ChatGPT. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users got GPT-6 Sol from October 7, 2026, and Free and Go users got GPT-6 Luna the next day. Enterprise access depends on administrator settings.
How do I make ChatGPT answer with an interactive tool? You can't switch it on directly, because GPT-6 decides when an interface helps. Naming what you want to adjust or compare, giving your own numbers and asking for cards, filters or a calculator makes an interactive answer more likely.
Does Intelligent UI change how businesses show up in ChatGPT? It changes what an answer can do with your information. Comparison cards and filters need specific facts such as hours, prices, services and availability. If those facts aren't published clearly and consistently, an interactive answer can't use them. OpenAI hasn't published how businesses are selected for these components.
Is Intelligent UI available to developers? OpenAI's launch post describes Intelligent UI in ChatGPT and doesn't announce developer access to the components. OpenAI says its Work and Codex models are unchanged by this release.
